The inclusion of physical therapists in the wound management team brings with it the potential to utilize a wide variety of physical agents that enhance wound healing. The current evidence and application for each of the following modalities will be discussed:
ELECTRIC STIMULATION
ULTRASOUND
PNEUMATIC COMPRESSION
DIATHERMY
ULTRAVIOLET
LASER
PULSED LAVAGE WITH SUCTION
NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY
In a lab activity, attendees will have a hands-on opportunity to practice various set ups with the equipment.
This half day session will also address wound dressing selection and provide guidelines for dressing recommendations and treatment interventions
